Belomonte project a threat to biodiversity

Eight species of mammals are threatened with extinction
If the devastation is not contained, the species could disappear from the region.
Researchers at the Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi (MPEG) identified eight species of medium to large mammals threatened with extinction-a list of 50-in sustainable forest District of Highway BR-163 (Cuiabá-Santarém), in Pará, one of the areas that suffer most as human pressure in the State, especially by fire. According to the experts, the field survey data are important for the definition of rational use of natural resources and conservation of biodiversity-rich area. If the devastation is not contained, the species could disappear from the region.
